What is this wire? Rear of 300tdi engine

Hi all


Replacing the engine breather-to-air intake hose and this plastic wire connection attached to the hose clamp broke away from the rear of the engine.


The wires disappear into looms so not easy to trace. It’s placement against the engine would suggest it’s a temp sensor?


How important is it to sit hard against the engine? I was thinking of cable tying it back to the hose clamp rather than replacing.

That's the starter solenoid wire connector. I bet it won't start without that connected.

Thanks mate, wire is still connected, just the plastic has broken away from the bracket.
