    Opposite lock bullbar fit up

    Hey guys, I've done some reading. I think I've covered it all. But I doubt it. I have an opposite lock bar to install. The inductions are as everyone else says. Needing more attention.. Being a 8 yr old car everything I touch will need new clips. I've ordered new Fender clips. New grill clips. What else do I need to order or check before I start tearing it to bits. The instructions says 2 hrs, I've read people on here day 3 days. I want a quality job. But I want to be prepared

    Josh,

    It’s an easy job.

    Focus on gapping the bar correctly, and make sure you leave it far enough forward you can pop the grill out top AND bottom or you’ll suffer when you need to get in there!

    I have just been through this exercise and as mentioned it is not hard but there are a few bits and pieces to get on top or. It took me about two and a days but they were pretty slack days. As mentioned elsewhere the ARB instructions are worth looking up as the OL ones are lacking to say the least.

    couple of things that came out of left field, if you have the headlight washers don't forget to unplug the 2 tubes on the lhs of the bumper also to refit the jets to the bar you need to take out the fitting panel that is glued on the original bumper, I cut a piece out and removed them after as it was almost impossible with the bumper in tact. I then glued them in place on the OL bar. If you have front sensors they need to be siliconed in place on the bar. I think the wiring loom for the indicators has changed as my relays run across the top panel in front of the radiator.

    If you plan to fit a winch I found I could not get it in easily with the bar in place and I had to remove the bar again to fit it. Also the plastic bar that Tombie has previously mentioned needs to be removed, I took out the complete panel and here is another minor issue. The ambient temperature probe mounts on this bar. I removed the mounting piece and moved it up next to what I think is one of the stability detectors.

    Other than that it is fairly easy. If I can download the photos I took will post up latter today.

    I just fitted mine to a D3 a few weeks ago. 2 hours is complete rubbish! I spent several days doing mine but a lot of that was procrastination and swearing. I also didn’t need it to drive anywhere so the motivation to finish quickly wasn’t as big. With two people and knowing what you are doing (I second guess every step and was on my own) you could get it done in a day. I have front parking sensors which aren’t compatible with the D4 bar so I had to upgrade the sensors and order new mounting housings from AliExpress (still waiting for them to arrive).
    Keep as much protective wrapping on as you can until you have finished as I found I needed to take my bar on and off several times to get alignment right so needed to put it down on the concrete each time (or use some old carpet or mats which I didn’t have).
    You will also need some longer socket extensions and I found ratchet ring spanners were handy.
    As has been said before, throw out the OL instructions and use the ARB ones.
    I found the electrics to be pretty strange (generic) too. For the led indicators/parking lights I cut them off from the driver board that came with mine and spliced the connector in to the headlight harness wires (solder don’t use those rubbish press fit connectors). The fog lights plugged into my original harness.
    I still have to tidy up the interface between the underside protection plates and the plastic wheel arch guards. This also seems to be a bit generic and not LR specific.
    When cutting the wheel arch trims, cut them ~30mm longer then the line you mark from the bottom of the headlight then trim back on final fit up. It was a tip my OL dealer gave me. It was amazing how far out I was from where I thought the line was.

    ARB fitting instructions attached, took me 2-3hrs to fit on my nature strip on my own so not a difficult job.

    Not sure what happened with the last photo but that is where I relocated the temp probe to, the plastic bar it is normally mounted on was removed the whole piece came out as a frame.

    Thanks for the photos and comments. I wanted to go hidden winch but got the bar at such a good price. The wife still doesn't want it on there. I just need to touch up some paint on the bar. Then I can fit it up. I'm lucky I pulled the carpet up in a room last week so I've got a good place for the bar to rest.
