    S1 Disco refill.

and no,, its not the fuel tank

I had the plastic radiator expansion tank welded up to fix a leak and want to know if there is a reccommended refilling procedure.
    The car never got hot,
but i done know how much water it lost.
The two heater hoses are looped inside the engine bay.

make sure you have the heater on when you fill it......
with those i think you remove the cap on the radiator......
then fill the bottle till it comes out the radiator......now fit the radiator cap
and fill the bottle to level.......
start and run engine to normal temp......

you wouldnt have lost any water due to the reservior being the highest point in the cooling system.......

so, we dont use the refill point on the rocker cover that says
    "Refill Point. Do Not Open"

ahh....you have the early one with three caps......
take all the caps off......and start filling.....and then plug as they overflow......the highest point will still be the reservoir.....which you top up last......

if the cap says fill point.....then fill from there......when the rad overflows.....put the cap in it.....
and keep filling.......when the fill point is overflowing.....put the cap in that too.....one to go........

any chance of a pic of your engine bay....?
it may even have a bleed nipple on it......but i have a bad memory.....

    Pedro,
Yours should have 2 heater steel pipes along the top of the RH rocker cover with a vertical pipe wioth a plastic plug on top ( its a good idea to buy 2 brass plugs).
Just put the car on a level surface with the radiator plug out and and the heater hose plug out and header tank cap off. Fill until the rad overflows and then close that plug. Continue filling the heater hose plug until it overflows, and then close it.
You should find that the header tank is about right, or maybe down a bit as it fills from the lower rad hose.
Take the car for a drive and let cool thoroughly and then top up the heater hose plug as it may be down a little. Close the plug, then check the header tank and top up to the top of the post inside.
Rover went to great lengths to ensure no air locks in 3.9 as they thought that air locks were causing the sleeve slippage, but it was only part of the story as they later found.
    regards Philip A
