    Rear Handrails

Shannons have a very nice looking 1951 Series 1 80" on their Auction site.
It has a pair of rear hand rails for those sitting in the back.
Can anyone tell me where I might find a pair of these?

    Many thanks
    Jeff

    'Apparently' quite rare in Australia.
comments made on my FB post yesterday.

They were part of the rear bench seat option. They could also be bought separately, but they are not grab handles, They are to stop you sliding off the bench seat and falling out the back as the vehicle accelerates or climbs a steep gradient.... Not particularly rare though IMHO.

only been playing with series 1s, S2 and s3 since 1990 over there years have bought own sold over 50 vehicle & have never seen them on any Australian landys might be a common item in the UK but not here.

The item in question is listed in the parts book as "Guard Rail for back seats" Not "grab handle" make of that what you will, it is for the safety of rear seat passengers. They were also available for the earlier 1600 engine model.

My reply........I have rear bench seats. .. 6ft, but handy when climbing in. Does a series one 80inch 2L accelerate quick enough to fall out the back ?

That is terrific information and wonderful help. Many thanks.
I have the rear inwardly facing seats so such a rail would be most reassuring.
    Many thanks to all.

Not so rare as I have them fitted to my spare series 1 tub - note the different mounting position to the pics posted above.
