Series Chassis Rust Repairs YouTube ... Point of No Return?

Hello All,

I have a Series 2A Land Rover ex-Army Ambulance that a previous owner did a lot of beach work in. Unfortunately, they were not that keen on hosing it off after every salty trip. The result is of course a lot of Swiss cheese in the front of the chassis. Sometimes I wonder if the extent of rust is verging on the point of being terminal for that section of the chassis. Then along comes a YouTube clip showing rust repairs to a Series chassis and then things start to look a bit brighter for my ambulance's chassis.

Let the Land Rover purists be warned - yes he is putting a 1940s Chevrolet truck cabin on the Series chassis. However, a Rover V8 power plant is being used on the project. Also, the "Hook" is a Harvey Frost towing arrangement that was designed for Land Rovers. I like Series Land Rovers. Chevy trucks and towing equipment so this YouTube series has been quite enjoyable to watch. I hope that you can enjoy it too.

There was an earlier thread by a bloke from Brisbane who moved to Hervey Bay. They had resurrected a chassis that seemed to have even more rust in it than the "Hook". However, they have been very silent on this forum for a long while now. It would be good to have some updates on that project.

Hi Lionel,
Yes you can repair a chassis if keen. But 2a's are very common and i think you should be able to pickup a non runner from inland and just change over any bits that you want to .
This to me would be cheaper and a lot quicker and easier, even if you had to do a few small rust repairs.
Dont forget everything else has rusted and not just the chassis.

theres no limit to the repairs you can do to a series chassis

Hello All,

I found the posts where Tricky documents the adventures of Plugger and The Camel; where they resurrect what looks like a "Point of No Return" Series chassis. The chassis repair posts start at Post 158 and finish at Post 207. These are accessed 5th February 2021 from, Plugger and The Camel (Post 207). This is a father and son team "Tricky" (Andrew) and son "Plugger" (Mitchell). The Land Rover is "The Camel".

Tricky, how are things going on The Camel, or your other projects ? It is time for an update!
