    Discovery 4 Park Brake Module

    Discovery 4 2011 tdv6
First time post so I hope I get this right.

Had my 3.5 year old battery give up the ghost the other night and along with a lots of flashing on the dash I've been left with the Park Brake warning light illuminating. Repairer says the hand brake is no longer engaging and advised the PB module needs replacing.

Has anyone experienced this and had to replace the module? Although I've been give a cost to repair I'd appreciate how much it's cost others for a new module install.

    cheers.
    Al

Can't help you with the costs I'm afraid but mine crapped itself not far from home and it was replaced under warranty. I'd never checked or adjusted it personally as I never use the drive through facility and left it to the mechanic to adjust as necessary.
I'm paranoid about the useless bloody thing and if there's one thing I hate about the "D", it's that.
    Good luck.

They are serviceable and repairable if you have time and interest. Many YouTube videos. Not too hard.

If you didn’t hear the screech then it could be an error that needs to be cleared.

Mines original 12 years old and works fine every day but I keep it adjusted.

Take it to a dealer who you trust as they are very temperamental at times, hopefully it's just recalibration of the ECU?
I tried to fix mine a couple of times and stuffed it up, the module itself is $1500 + fitting. I've had the old one out once and took the box apart to no avail and then fitted the new one. First time it took 6 hours in the driveway swearing and cursing the final time it was done in 2 -3 hours.
    Just my2c worth.

Light came up on the dash of mine, the EPD wouldn't work and it was the switch.

Not that difficult to fix, but like others have said,The EPB is something the D4 could do without.

Anyway, maybe get a second opinion or have some one read the fault code.

Had all the faults read when it went in for service. No screaching sounds when the hand brake worked but now it doesn't engage at all. Light no longer shows either. How do I know if its the switch or the modulator?

I dont knows rang my Indie, and he said its the switch, but I cant remember the code.I had a GAP tool.
No screech either, just orange light on every now and then, and the EPB didnt work when the light was on.
Actually bloody dangerous, particularly as I had a van on one time when it did it.
