    Disco Td5 questions

    Ok guys,
The question has been asked a thousand times before but here it is again. We are currently looking at a 2000 Td5 Disco with about 98,000 on the clock. It has a few little oil leaks underneath, which dont seem anything unusual for a Land Rover. Did we ever find out where we can find what recalls have been issued by LR on the Discos and any more general thoughts on them by the guys who have purchased the Td5 LRs (Adam, Andy?)
We might not go through and buy it yet but are having a good look in case we decide to!!

You can PM me the last 6 digits of the VIN & I can check what's been done & what needs to be done if you like.

has it been used off road? if so check for cracks in the chassis and check where the body mounts onto the chassis, check the fuel regulator for leaks as they are prone to leaking(approx $350) does it have the airbag suspension if so the air compressor may be due to fail push the button that raises the rear if it doesn't want to raise or takes ages to raise that is a sign that it is on it's last legs.

Oil leaks around transfer case and around the join where the trans bolts onto the bell housing is normal check the front drive shaft for any play and check the exhaust manifold for leaks and missing studs or nuts and the last thing there is a small cooling hose that goes to the oil cooler the heat from the turbo tends to stuff the hose.
disco seriesII mods so far:-bullbar,hyd winch,
detriot locker, lsd front,C.D.L kit, chipped and bigger intercooler,2" lift, rock sliders, lsd in transfer case, modified auto trans.

check that there are no oil leaks at the ecu......
they had a dodgy injector harness on the early Td5....it used to allow oil to run through the harness
from the injectors to the ecu......the solution is a replacement injector harness......
