Morning all, seeking some input so I don’t do anything silly here.
I’m installing my nice new electronic ignition from simonbbc into my 2.25 petrol, and there are a few minor differences. The new dizzy has a nice o-ring to keep the oil where it should be it would seem. The old dizzy uses a cork ring that sits in a recess at the top of the pedestal. If that cork ring is where it should be I can’t seem to get the drive dog engaged, because the distributor sits a bit high. I was thinking the the o-ring on the new unit negates the cork ring on the old, and this thread seems to agree:
Lucas 45D Distributor O-Ring.
What do you all think?
Thanks in advance for your input
Matt

Thanks tins, it could be that the new cork was/is a little thick, and it is also a really tight fit in the pedestal recess.
At any rate, your opinion was just what I needed to proceed, so it is in now, and the engine running, and for the first time ever I was able to start the engine cold with no choke
Cheers,
Matt
