			Whistle type noise turbo area

hello everyone once again i am seeking answers from people with more knowledge than me, so here's a brief history leading up to my latest drama, so i got this 2011 discovery 4 3.0 tdv6 pretty cheap because it had a broken crank so body off and another engine fitted not to many problems doing that. then i had problems with abs and a host of other things all of which the good people of this forum have been able to help me with. So here is my latest drama on a road test i got this loud squealing type noise on acceleration at around 1500 rpm on the l/h/side around the turbo area so i pulled off all the turbo related hoses and checked for holes, cracks, splits found none so then i checked the impeller for free play and it seems ok but the noise is definitely from the turbo area so i wondering anyone has any thoughts

Check the pulleys and idlers, could be any of those. Are you getting any fault codes such as low boost pressure? Check the ancillary belt for wear. Any oil leaks from the turbo?

Different vehicle, I know, but I recently replaced the turbo on my '97 Defender due to screaming banshee noises from the turbo area. I too checked for hose splits etc and found none. The replacement 2nd hand turbo solved my issue. The old one had done about 450K Km and had a bit of sideways play.
 Don.

Either gasket on primary turbo or manifold. A smoke test will find it.
