    Fuel gauge gremlins II

I think I've got the fuel gauge sender issue. I nearly ran out of fuel twice. Hopped in the other day showed nearly full tank and 550km to empty, but I had already gone 200km. Sure enough, 5 minutes later was showing 400km to empty and tank level had dropped.

Anyone know about how much to replace?

    Cheers

I had a fuel level sender issue a few years back, there are 2 in the tank and both require the tank to be dropped to replace.

Whilst you are there might as well service the low pressure fuel pump, clean the gauze, and depending on age of vehicle replace the pump.

You can view the sensor data for both fuel Level sensors on a scan tool. Should help give you insight into which sensor it is

Have you checked the earth on your battery? My dash and gauge had a schizoid attack the other day because there was corrosion buildup on the terminals

I had exactly the same out of fuel experience - gauge showed over 1/3 tank but ran out.

Turned out it the little gauge floaty thingy inside the fuel tank was sticking. I dropped the tank and got my kid to help (needs a skinny arm) - relatively easy fix.
