Splicing tool for synthetic rope

A simple piece of fencing wire, a sharp knife and some tape is all you need

A dirk. spike and whipping was my favorite. Except for tow hawsers they were mongrels of things- polypropylene floats a bit

Still think manila rope is my favorite for splicing. Its hemp. Sizzle rope is not my favorite

Manila is nice and easy
to work with
When I was crayfishing I ha to deal with that nasty hard nylon that was a bastard to get a spike/fid through.
Synthetic is by far the simplest and fastest rope to splice because you are not actually splicing it like normal rope as all you are really doing is threading it up the guts of the main line to effect the splice

Steel wire rope was the worst - luckily someone invented swages.

Flemish eye splice was not to bad but derated the rope too much.

Did a serious lift rebuilding Dartmouth Dam rotor & stator where we actually glued the end fitting on to the rope.
