Bizarre sunroof drain problem.

From the front LH sunroof drain is blocked which i have confirmed by facing the car down hill on a slight LH slope and pouring water into the drain channel which just sits there.
I can feed trimmer line until it hits what i think is the elbow at the exit point, i can also poke line up from the inner guard exit point and it still doesn't drain out.
What is weird is that i pushed about 2m up the drain and it didn't come out the top like i expected, in fact it didn't come out anywhere that i could see ?
Drain is still blocked and where are dues a few days of rain this week and i don't fancy drying the carpet and sill channels again but i'm stumped what to do next apart from using tape to seal the sunroof until i can work out whats going on.

I reckon the lower line has separated from the elbow, your trimmer line would have been feeding up into the inside of the guard somewhere.

Possibly but I still have water pooling in the channel that isn't draining, I think I'll need to order new drain tubes and just replace the lot.

I've had a few older sunroofs in my time and I've found that some warm water and a good ratio of Domestos sorts it out more often than not.

A lot of mine had a build up of gunge in the tube like mould and the Domestos kills it.

Decided to duct tape it up until can get to it properly, passenger side requires the CJB to be removed for access so i'll do that on the weekend.
Luckily my rack covers most of it so it doesn't look so bad.

the elbow at the top end of the tube is known to let go as well.
You can see it by pulling down just enough of the headliner which is not too difficult - take off the sun visor etc I recall.

No need. Give it a try first. If it doesn't fix the problem then you can go for the compressed air solution.

I had both sides fail on the elbow above all the electrics. Water was running straight onto everything which has caused sooooo many issues in the car, some of which I am still finding months later. Thing is they were also partially blocked up at the sunroof drain end so I was getting the double whammy.

My humble opinion, replace both drain tubes, not that hard, although moving the CJB sideways to get that side in is a bugger. You dont need to disconnect the CJB but it does help and once you play it become obvious, frustrating though.

I still may have to replace my CJB as a result ( I suspect) of water ingress. I have low (11.5v) on the wrong side of the remote receiver. I havent got to the bottom of it yet but I would urge you to replace the drain while you can lest something much harder to fix is possible stuffed.
