wondering if something like this would work?
Bovee 1000 with Y USB/AUX iPod Integration Cable for BMW, Mini Cooper Wireless Bluetooth Car Kit for in car iPod Integration : Amazon.com.au: Electronics
AULRO members,
This is my first post so be gentle. I have searched the internet and found many similar posts, but none that answer this specific question;
I have just bought my first Range Rover Sport - 2011 Luxury SD6, MY 2012 (built 11/2011). The bluetooth for the phone works as it should, but I would like to be able to play music and play podcasts etc, using my iPhone 11 - and expecting that this is somehow possible using either USB Port, or the iPod Port (also a USB port, not the older 30 Pin iPod connection) - both of which are located in the rear panel of the centre console.
I have found various iPod integration cables for RRS (like Bovee etc) but they all seem to assume that the vehicle would have the 30 pin iPod connector, and it doesn't - it's a USB. So I'm wondering why I can't simply use a USB to Lightning data cable (used several cables to ensure I'm not inadvertently using a charge only version) - to run my iPhone into the sound system. I've tried scrolling through the menu using My Music etc and can't find anything that makes sense. The phone seems to think it is sending to the vehicle, judging by the reaction when I play music via Apple Music, and the bluetooth showing positive connection to the vehicle.
What is the trap for young players here? Happy to buy whatever special cable I need, I just don't want to throw $150 to amazon.com to realise I didn't get the specs quite right.
Let me know what I need to do.
Best regards,
Gerald

If it's a 2012MY it already has Bluetooth streaming, look in the audio menu under My Music, then Source.

						Hi tried to connect to my 2010 RRS, the problem is the old 30 pins don't match to the new lightning cables, even if you get a 30 pin to lightning connector.
So to get around it, I purchased an older IPOD model which has the 30 pins, and then just synced my iphone to the IPOD and the IPOD just stays in the RR using the original IPOD connector.

Thank you! That worked, I managed to synch my iPhone with the vehicle using a USB/Lightning Cable and played music and podcasts through my vehicle stereo! Very happy, except it seemed somewhat unreliable, cutting out after only a few minutes for no obvious reason. I'll keep playing with it and see if I can find out what is affecting the connection.
I ordered a Bovee 1000 unit a day or so ago, and the wrong cable (by mistake). Could have saved myself $150 if I had known to double tap the My Music icon. Traps for young players! Hopefully the Bovee unit is still of some use, as I think that should mean I don't have to plug the phone directly into the vehicle?
Thanks again!
Gerald
