    Mitch Hitch install

Just bought a used Mitch Hitch and was sizing it up before I knock out the pin on my old Hitch which has seized. Looks like the 2 60mm bolts go through the holes that are presently used for the security chain shackles. These holes are elongated and few mm wider than the bolt. Is this correct ?
According to the instructions there is no washer under the nylock nut and there is not a lot of meat for the nut to sit on.
I would have thought it would be a more snug fit

I would be adding 2 hardened washers per bolt, one under the head and one under the nut. Don't trust nylocks to stay put. If the bolt is long enough, a half height locknut is not a bad idea.

If you can find them, use "Nordlock" washers. Learnt about these re-building crushing plants in mining, where bolts / nuts working loose due to vibration is a daily occurrence. These things are brilliant and work better than anything else I've come across.

Why these lock washers are the only ones that actually work! Nord-Lock - YouTube

Second that on Nordloks, been using them for years in crushers and highly loaded mechanical joints where excessive vibration exists. Remember to tighten thr nut VFT and don't use thread lube.
