New to the world of GAP Tool

    G'day All,

Finally got around to getting the Gap tool changed to my vin and started to delve into the world of its functions.
I see a list of things that it says updates are available for on my vehicle .. the tdv6 engine was 1 plus I think suspension as well .
So my question to those far more capable with the tool is are these updates something that will just upload from the tool or are they something I should look at purchasing.

Funnily the auto box seemed to have the latest update which surprised me as I can't think of any time the car would have been in a workshop to receive any.

    Thanks and cheers Bulletman

I wouldn't update anything unless you have an issue that needs addressing.

    If it ain't broke....

Well I did initially think that Brad , but I thought I would ask the good folk on here like yourself just to see if my thinking was too old school.

I will just let sleeping dogs lay me thinks.

    Thanks for the reply

    Cheers Bulletman

I've lost count of all the times over the years I've looked back after pressing "go" and thought "Gee I wish I hadn't done that".

Checking my last ECU list I have updates available for :
    • Airbag
    • Instrument Pack

Oddly enough the Audio amp is listed as "Newer than the reflash database".

I did have to flash the Engine when I did the DPF/EGR delete, but checking back when I first got the GAP tool, I was already at the latest version apparently.

GAP themselves don't recommend any updates apart from the transmission which is for those that have what is known as the California stop issue, a harsh 2-1 shift when coming to a stop.

    x2 What he said..

Pointless messing for the sake of messing.

I am a GAP Tool fan boy, its a great bit of kit and far better than the Snapon tool and the 2 Nanocom tools that are beyond useless.

It's good to ask. I often wonder what I could be missing out on!! I really really want them all up to date, but I'll wait to someone says how great the latest update is. Then I'll pounce

I did the terrain response update so I could have the latest code for off road. Couldn’t tell a difference but hey, it was successful.

So did you need to purchase that update or is it part of owning a gap tool that updates are in their system and you download for free.
