    Cracked dashboard on 04 d3

    G'day All,

Trying to get a vic RWC on my 2004 Disco3 and they defected the dash having cracks across the airbag on the passengers side.

Does anyone have any ideas on how or who to fix it in victoria?

    Thanks,

    Pottsy

I didn’t realise that was a RWC item.

There is a company called Dash Doctor in Coburg but they normally do classic style cars.

However it would certainly be worthwhile giving them a call.

Could you buy some automotive vinyl and glue it on the top? Cheap/nasty fix?

Sadly they seem to split around the airbag release line regardless of care. Can’t you put a dash mat on and try again?

Mine also has those cracks but you are very limited with repairs as you mustn't do anything that may interfere with the operation of the airbag. An approved dash mat is probably your best option or live with it which is what I'm doing.

I went the dash mat route. After looking at it closely, I can see why they split there as it's deliberately incredibly thin to not impede the airbag.

On the other hand, I live in a State where as long as the car mostly has at least 3 wheels in contact with the road with less than a couple of steel belts visible, and half of one functioning brake light (indicators entirely optional), we don't have to worry about the occasional inspection.
If you have grey or greying hair, your vehicle bodywork can almost be 50% rust holes and you'll still get passed by the local plod without so much as a second look as long as the blue smoke is thin enough to see through at close range.
