folks,
will be doing a fluid and filter change on the old D3 soon and looking at various kits out there. I can get genuine ZF filter and rubber/metal gasket for $175 or there is after market using non genuine filter and duraprene gasket for $69.
Thoughts on the genuine vs aftermarket filters??
TIA
cheers
Peter

I also get my ZF service kits from MJ products, great business to deal with.
I only use the metal gasket with the rubber seal as it's a lot easier to fit and doesnt leak.

Daz,

to be 100% sure, climb underneath and get the transmission number off the passenger side (for RH drive vehicles) off the casing.
If doing the pan conversion, may as well pull the valve body and chuck a Sonnax zip kit through it.
I'll say it again, I already have a steel pan. All I am doing is a new filter & double flush.
all I need to know is if the genuine ZF filter is the way to go as opposed to the after market one. I'll get in touch with MJ during the week to ensure I order the correct gasket.
Last time I did the fluid & filter change I used the Duraphrene gasket, has never leaked and its been on 4 years.
Dax indicates he uses the genuine ZF filter and I am leaning that way as well.
If I can get another year out of the box before it gets rebuilt I will be happy, I said that last time and 4 years later.
cheers
