LT230 output seal - installation depth?

    I have a 110 TD5 Defender Xtreme, MY2002.

Dealing with changing the LT230 rear output oil seal, I am interested in whether the new seal should be drifted in so that it contacts the bearing track, or should it be a shallower depth.

There seems to be different opinions in some of the theads covering this topic.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Lionel

Maybe Mike will tell you. Bit to wade through here but possibly worth it going forward.

Thanks for the link. I've cycled quickly through most of the sections, and it's a great read if you need to work on the LT230 internals, but there is nothing much about the seals, unfortunately.

    Cheers,

IIRC it was flush, Lionel, and I've been speaking to a mate this arvo who is rebuilding 3 atm and he confirmed that the spec is flush.
He actually turned up a tool for the various seals and bearings and is seating that particular seal at 0.5mm below the face.

    Wasn't sure as it's been a while.
