Injector coding and pilot learn TDV8

    Hi all

I have been a long time reader but now a new member. Unfortunately or otherwise I am a fellow Range Rover tragic with a long list of classics and a current 2000 P38 and now a 2010 RRS TDV8 as a current project.

As a start I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help me with:

Firstly I have had to replace 2 faulty injectors and I know these need to have the codes entered but I have seen no mention of any pilot learn procedure for the L320 does anyone know if this is required or is coding the injectors the only requirement?

Secondly but related to the first can anyone confirm if the icarsoft LR V3 covers injector coding for the TDV8 (I have found that most tools say they cover the 2010 RRS but then only include the petrol and TDV6 motors. (I know the iidgap tool is the preferred option and i am currently trying to get SDD up and running as I believ this should cover this motor)

Many thnaks in advance for any assistance

    Keith

According to the WSM the injectors aren't coded but there's a couple of styles of injector which only fit in specfic positions due to the angle of the fuel pipe and/or the electrical connector.

TDV8 Injector coding and pilot learn

    Hi All,
I have just replaced two faulty injectors in my RRS TDV8 and need to enter the correction codes for these. so I have two questions that hopefully you can assist with.
    1. Does the iCarsoft LR V3 cover injector coding for the TDV8? I know it states coverage for the car and for injector coding but several tools state the sam and only cover petrol and SDV6 versions (yes I know Gap tool is preferable but also a lot dearer)

    2. After coding the injectors is there a "pilot learn" procedure and if so what is it please

    Many thanks in advance

yes kept going in to limp mode and I had all injectors tested with one failing due to incorrect fow and the other with a short to earth which is why there are now two new ones in there. The car does run OK but a bit rough at idle which is to be expected without having the injector codes entered. I just tried using SDD (v131) but it appears that does not allow the code entry so I am now trying to get v164 working to see if that covers it. Its looking more like having to bite the bullet and go Gap tool.

    From the WSM...
    • NOTE: New injectors can be installed in any cylinder and DO NOT have to be configured

    Thanks Graeme
I have been getting conflicting info re coding but that would explain why several scan tools dont include the TDV8 in the coding funtion. Puzzling though that there are several posts saying they coeded (via iid gap) on the TDV8. Car seems to be running OK but not idling a smooth as I would like. Maybe needs more time to adjust.
