I came across this by accident. It never dawned on me that there would be a signifigant amount of oil left in the oil filter housing once the filter is removed. Anyway here is the link to this yoke that gets the remnants of you old oil out.

I know that car manufacturers are not keen on flushing agents being used in their engines and this probably explains why. If used and there is oil left in the filter housing this will contain some of the flushing agent though the sump has been drained. Once you fill up with fresh oil this will mix with the remaining flushing agent left with the oil in the filter housing. I know the amount of flushing agent will be miniscule when the bit of oil left in the system mixes with the fresh stuff but it is not a lubricant and it will be in the system so to speak. Also modern engines seem to have specific tolerances for the oil used.
I know engine flushing is generally frowned upon but that is another debate.

I can't comment on other manufacturers or suppliers of Flushing agents, but our Flushing Oil Concentrate (Cost Effective Maintenance) is detergent/dispersant based and in an oil carrier base, so any residue is not harmful. Crankcase oils also contain a detergent/dispersant package. Ours differs in that it targets the heavier sludge and carbon deposits.

Flushes that rely on solvents to do this job are more common, and your comments may have some relevance to those.
