Traxide DT-90 - Lithium Battery compatible?

Hi all. I am looking to upgrade my house battery to a lithium one.

I have installed a traxide DT-90 charger, which has worked perfectly. If I upgrade to a lithium (SOK 12v 206Ah Lithium Battery), can I still use the DT-90?

    regards
    Paul

ps Have tried to contact Tim derectly, but he hasn’t responede to my emails.

Hi Paul and first off, when did you send me an E-mail.

I have actually been on top of my e-mail replies lately, thanks to finally get the business set up at our new premises.

Please Note, the BEST e-mail address to conact me on is

    traxide85@gmail.com.

My old Optus e-mail address is being phased out because of reliability problems.

That aside, as long as your alternator operates at 13.8v or higher, and I am pretty sure yours does, you should have no problems with charging a lithium battery directly from your alternator, via your DT90.

I already have a few Defender owners who have swapped out the lead acid battery for a lithium and it was a straight swap with no modifications needed.

Do you know your alternator’s amperage?

Thanks Gavin and is it any wonder I have problems getting E-mails.

I’m also interested - my wife says I can afford a lithium to replace the failing deep cycle AGMs I have as house batteries in my L322.

I have a DT90 I haven’t yet fitted (I’ve had it for while) as my L322 is fitted with a PowerTech MB3688 120A 12/24VDC Programmable Dual Battery Isolator (which I bought on special years ago) and I don’t know which is better. (I can guess what Tim would say! 😀 )

I also have, sitting on a shelf in the garage, the Electronics Australia dual battery controller I built over 25 years ago for my RRC. 🤪

Also, I’d like to point out there is a special sub-forum about lithium batteries and it has threads about using the Traxide system with lithiums.

Hi Ron and this is more of a question than a statement, correct me if I have this wrong, but I believe those units do not have reverse charging???

I’d have to check, Tim. I thought it did when it connects the batteries they stay connected for a while. I’ll test it when I get home.
