Anyone got these Clutch Slave Cylinder related parts?

    Hello All,

Before I go an place an order to the United Kingdom for relatively inexpensive parts - with a horrendous cost to get them posted to Australia - can you please check your spare parts bins and 'might come in handy one day' shelves. The parts are Clutch Slave Cylinder
    Push Rod Part Number: RNC293
    and
Two Lock Nuts Part Number: RNS034

If you do have these parts and no longer need them could you please let know? Diagram accessed 18th September 2023 from, Land Rover Series II, IIA, & III Clutch, Slave Cylinder, & Throwout Assembly | Rovers North - Land Rover Parts and Accessories Since 1979

    Thank you

    Kind regards
    Lionel

    Hello John,

Thank you for the reply. I just found a local = Australian supplier who makes their own push rods. The price is reasonable enough even with the cost of postage. I will try that source first.

I did track down some supposedly NOS genuine parts - sweet Jesus their asking price was astronomic + add overseas shipping on top of that!

I will let you know how I get on with the Australian mob. I already have a new OEM clutch slave cylinder.

    Kind regards

Wouldn't a High Tensile UNF bolt with the head cut off and rounded do the same?

Hi Lionel, would you mind sharing the Australian supplier - would be good to get this into the “permanent AULRO record” as this part has been asked about a few times. I looked into the pushrod some years ago because mine had bent, and remember the minor heart attack I had at the price, but luckily I had a spare in another parts car.

Probably does not even need to be high tensile!

    Hello DrFish,

Just for the record the part number RNC293 shown on the parts diagram in an earlier post is now known as 537601

    The Australian supplier is:
    Rovaparts Automotive
    191 Cherry Flat Road
    Bonshaw Victoria 3352
    Australia
    (03) 7006 5152
    sales@rovaparts.com.au

The details of the part itself are Land Rover Parts & Accessories - Push Rod for Clutch Slave Cylinder Series II/IIA (Accessed 23rd September 2023.

    Item described as:
Push Rod for Clutch Slave Cylinder Series II/IIA (537601)...This Part is made In-house. Overall Length is 4.190" (0.065" longer than standard) to allow for more adjustment allowance.

At the time I bought this part it was valued at $16.50 inc. GST. Since I have a couple of 2A I bought to of them and the postage to get the parts here was $15.00.

I found other Australian parts suppliers who were selling the same part and they wanted $93.50 inc. 10% GST. This is their price for just one push rod!!! Add to this the cost of postage.

    I hope this information helps

    Kind regards
    Lionel

It looks like the Rovaparts one is a bolt with the head machined off (as suggested by Whitehillbilly) and a nut welded in place.

The more expensive ones are likely to be NOS.

A bolt doesn’t work. The previous owner of Sid had done this and then sold Sid as the clutch was stuffed

The bolt had folded in half.

Maybe high tensile would be better, but I took a deep breath and bought the right part.

    Hello All,

When I bought the 2A shortie it had to be pushed to get it started. The clutch would not operate for the previous owner. They bought the vehicle as a project car - so a non operational clutch did not concern them that much. I bought the vehicle principally for its body. The fact that it came with a running motor and if anything else ran was a pure bonus. Since the vehicle does come with a running motor - I would just like to see if I can get the clutch to work. My hope being that the clutch will work again with a new slave cylinder and a replacement for the missing push rod.

The missing push rod is only costing me $15. Once it is installed I could find that the clutch mechanical parts of the clutch inside the bell housing could all be cactus. I reckon I will be way out in front paying $15 instead of paying close to $100 for an OEM or NOS part. The car is not going to be a concourse standard show piece. I would like to drive it around the paddock for fun until the time comes to break it down and swap the body over to one of my Land Rovers that the previous owner rolled over.

To understand the level I am operating at towards the shortie you can play this song and just substitute the word "Boys" instead of the original singer's identified gender Accessed 24/09/23 from Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want To Have Fun (Official Video) - YouTube

    Kind regards
    Lionel
