It's all just a fancy way of saying it will break. Or, "It's gunna cost ya, Guvna".
Sorry. Couldn't resist. I reckon there's a degree in deciphering marketing jargon. There's one for everything else, apparently.

						SubscriberHi all,
As I say ignore my ignorance in these matters. I have been looking at buying an updated LR either a Disco 4 or 5. As part of the process I have been looking at lots of vehicles and going to the LR site to build my dream vehicle.
I have become so accustomed to thinking of LR as an out of the box 4WD that seeing a Pack for a new vehicle as Advanced Offroad Capability Pack, talking about High/Low range that it has taken me by surprise. Yes Terrain Response 2 and a rear e-diff all regular are expected. Surely they are not selling them without true 4WD capability out of the box?
All Terrain Progress Control - is this the old hill descent controls? Configurable Terrain Response surely that sounds like the dial I use to turn for Rock Crawl etc.
When did this happen or am I just misunderstanding this new jargon? Turn you back for a few years and it is worse than your kids growing up.
I even did a comparison from 2016 to present only to see that I can get a 4x4 Constant, 4x4 Dual Range and 4x4. Wow this is getting very confusing.
It must be or it is going to get really hard to buy a second hand D5 or Landrover from 2022ish onward.
All the best,
Laurie

Nanocom, D2 TD5 only.
D4 is constant 4WD,with 2 speed transfer case and Ediff as option.Center diff automatically comes on when needed, not a great fan of this, sometimes it is nice to be able to use center diff knowing it is in.
Terrain rsponse in both D4 and D5.
D5 same as D4,but some base models have single speed transfer case, and D5has next generation terrain response.
Then there is AWD,which is the latest models of Defender, but we wont go there,as it is not on your list.
