						Hello All,
If you have any Vevor products how do you rate them? I am aware that they are Chinese in origin. I just like the idea of buying some thing that at least has a manufacturer's label on it, rather than a 'no name' brand. Yes, I am just probably paying $5.00 more for that sticker of comfort. Yes, all the stuff probably comes from the same factory and they just do batches with different colours and different labels.
My ute crane's hydraulic ram is showing its age. I can get a replacement Vevor-brand long stroke ram delivered to my door with free postage for less than replacement seals would cost.
Interestingly, the Vevor replacement ram is only $5.00 dearer including delivery than similar no brand products which then charge $100 postage. All products are available on eBay - of course!
Kind regards
Lionel

Supportervevor is not really a name brand in the traditional sense ... like say a Milwaukee, or Ryobi, etc.
They are a sticker name brand. They access regular non name brand stuff in bulk and put their name to it.
Like blknight says in my case too, I'm in Melb so if I had issues with warranty, I can take to warehouse and exchange easily enough.
I have three Vevor items, all fit for purpose, not fantastic, just work as I expected.
Ultrasonic does good job and works.
Welding tables, not perfect, actually not bought for welding, but half decently made stuff, just the tilt function is very fragile, where their wingnut tightening system isn't strong enough to keep table angle set because hard to tighten the wingut to lock it up enough.
Other item is a diesel heater that works. Not actually mine, but as bro left it here .. it is now! Fired it up a couple of times in the shed, and funnily enough it works fine.

						Hello Dave and Arthur,
Yes, living in Melbourne would be handy if things do go wrong. Not real handy if like some people you do not live in Melbourne. This prompted me to do some more hunting on the internet. I found the following ram that comes with the added advantage of being a double action pump. I never felt entirely comfortable with just attempting to gradually lower something like an engine by using a handle to operate the ram's T valve. So double the price of a Vevor and similar ilk - however this one is supported by a mob that I have been very happy with in the past. Namely, Machinery House or Hare and Forbes HCJ-8T - Hydraulic Bottle Jack with Yoke - 8 Tonne Long Stroke Double action pump accessed 3rd of December 2023 from Just a moment....
Their Hafco 900 kg ute crane is fitted with a 3 tonne long stroke hydraulic ram. They do also sell a replacement ram for their smaller capacity 400 kg ute crane - however there are no specifications currently available online.
I have some other projects where 8 tonne capacity long stroke hydraulic rams will be very handy for.
Thank you for your replies - greatly appreciate.
Kind regards
Lionel

Have you considered taking your old ram to a local hydraulic mob tp get it repaired/overhauled? We get a lot of hydraulic stuff repaired by our local bloke.
Don.

						Hello Don,
Thank you for your suggestion. I did approach our main local hydraulic mob. They price little jobs like resealing a ram at OMG prices so they can avoid doing them. I was told it was more economical to just buy another piece of Chinese - [insert deragtory comments regarding quality standards] because it would be cheaper then getting the ram repaired.
Kind regards
Lionel
the seal configuration in most cheap long travelrams used on engine cranes is more like a jack seal than a proper hydrualic seal and lots of hyd places dont touch them.
I can get the rams for between $48 and $110 (depends on what specials and ebay vouchers I have on the day) and even at $110 the amount of time it takes me to take it out of the crane, take it to anywhere and pay for the parts is more than taking it out of the crane putting in a new one and junkin the old one. the last 3 Ive done have all had different seal configurations. IF I knew what was in the ram before I puleld it out ID save a motza just making up new seals.
But IVe got plenty of Vevor gear that hasnt dropped the bundle yet.
one of their 220 600 1100w lathes is next
