Siphon some out and check it but should be able to tell from a sniff test.
Is it a 2.7 or 3ltr and what is the mileage?

2011 D4 no power, engine shaking
Howdy all, I have a 2011 D4 Diesel, yesterday morning my wife drove into town and all good, no issues, she came home and parked outside the front door and then an hour later we went to go for a drive with the kids, I started the car and hear this banging and car shaking, I try to rev the engine and no power, I put it into drive and no power, put it into reverse and no power, but the engine is shaking, i get out and see the exhaust is shaking…. Stopped the car, no errors on the dash, no ‘restricted performance’ errors, no prior warnings, no warnings at all, I checked the oil and it was low so I topped it up, changed the oil filter, and the air filter as I had spares ready, started her up and got the same symptoms….. she starts but eventually just stalls and stops.
Never had an error or issue, we’ve been fine driving around fine, surprised whatever is wrong literally happened within a hour and the car is unusable.
Anyone any ideas? Wife filled with fuel a day ago and she is 110% it was diesel from our local gas station…..

It’s 2011 3 Ltr, 300,000 km’s, so you think it’s the wrong fuel in the car that would cause this behaviour ? It literally has no power, you can start it, it idles and eventually cuts out, the engine shakes, car shakes, try to press the accelerator and nothing, doesn’t rev the engine at all.
Could be also could be crank failure but usually that happens at under 200k and is not as common on earlier 3.0 motors, id be checking the fuel first.
I have noticed that the pump colours aren't standardised across all fuel distributors which makes misfueling a possibility - fingers crossed for you.

Fingers crossed indeed.
This is not a recommendation, but services exist for misfuelling recovery, like this one.

Did she keep the receipt? Usually it shows what fuel was delivered.

If not petrol, it could be contaminated diesel, i.e. water. Try to get an sample. Diesel nozzles are larger so that they don't fit into petrol filler necks, but not the other way around, so apart from the misfuellung device in the D4 filler, theres nothing to stop petrol from being added.
From what you describe, my guess is one or more failed injectors, it does start but runs rough. Broken crank shaft usually means no start at all.
Hope you get it sorted mate.
