LR3 V6 4.0 Petrol front crank shaft seal

My harmonic balancer failed on my 2007 V6 4.0 and i am replacing the front seal while I have the pulley off. I did not measure the insertion depth of the seal before removing it (my bad). In the absence of the tools referenced in the replacement process, can some one please advise on the depth from the front of the case to the top face of the seal ?

The seal needs to be pushed into the case to provide clearance for the dust seal.

    Thank you

Not sure on the 4.0 but the 2.7 seal sits 1mm below flush, does it have a lip to stop in going in too far ?

The drawing of the 330-1148 tool looks like it's quite a depth. I wonder if anyone who has the tool can measure it for you?

Alternatively, I've never seen a seal that didn't leave a witness mark on a shaft. Can you get in there with a mirror/borescope and get a look at the shaft surface?

you are correct - there is a witness mark on the crank and I should be able to work it out. Thank you
