    Possible new Disco Sport soon.

I recently sold our 7 year old D4 which we'd had from new recently and bought a Prado as we'd had one years ago and it wasn't a bad vehicle at all. After 5 Landies including 3 Deafeners and 2 Discos I thought maybe a change would be good especially seeing the prices for new Defenders etc. Bloody horrendous and the vehicles didn't really come up to what I want and I have read some not nice stories re the engines, just like the D4s.
However, due to various reasons we won't be doing much remote travelling in the future which we've done mostly on our own without problems and with a club we're no longer members of, so I reckon we can buy another Landie and thought about a Disco Sport.
Reason for getting rid of a new Prado? I don't like it, I hate the cruise control, I hate the bloody adaptive slowing down when I don't tell it to by using brakes, I hate bloody Tojos and their owners and their superior attitudes.
Elder bro has Disco Sport in Switzerland and he reckons it's very good but I still read negative stuff on here about them and their engines.
So what really is the best model to buy?
    Any useful comments appreciated.

    AlanH.
I said in a thread of yours a while back you can't compare a Prado to a D4,there is just NO comparison
You have been used to a vehicle that drives very well.

Anyway, can't you turn the adaptive CC off,and just use normal CC?
The CC on our LC200 works so much better than on our previous D4.
    But it is not Adaptive.
FWIW,i followed a late model Audi back from Arrawarra at night last week,110Km/hr virtually all the way,and down every hill the brake lights were on,so seems that is what they do using CC.
    The 200 changes down a gear,or two,it works brilliantly,where the D4 just ran away.

Anyway, horses for courses, good luck with the sport, but you are right, there are lots of horror stories around, but it could be specific models or years that had issues.
LR have a class action against them about timing chains in some models.

What about a Mitsy Sport, one of my Brothers has had a couple over the years,no issues, great car?

My half German/half English niece has a new top of the range BMW and it keeps doing that on autobahns and Britian's motorways. Very confusing to following drivers because unlike here they're looking way ahead, not at the bumper of the car just in front.
    AlanH.

PS. Anyway, I may stick with the Prado as it's not a bad motor, just bloody annoys me sometimes compared to the D4.

PPS. And at least the so called mechanics up north will look at them even if they can't actually fix them.... and you can get replacement engines.

Yes gives me the ****s when following another vehicle and the brake lights are on,then off, then on again.I generally get past them if I can.

Anyway, don’t worry about another engine for the Prado as you will never need one….

As I said before the way the LC works going down a gear or two automatically in CC,when going down a hill is brilliant,I am surprised the Prado does not do the same.

FWIW,some semi trailers also have the brakes on occasionally going down hills on the main HWY,so maybe that is CC doing it as well.

It'll be the retarder probably. The newer Euro trucks will couple that to the CC as well. Scania I drove would do it if you commanded it, but later ones can maintain a speed up and down. Don't see why it needs to activate the brake lights though. Some buses will activate it as soon as you lift of the accelerator, which sucks.

It's very inaccurate and speeds up to several kays over the speed set quite often after having slowed for some reason. I'll get Tojo to check it out as cops here are only concerned with speed and even the smallest over the top will get you a ticket.
Apparently and according to all the guff from so called 'road safety experts', Speed Kills but sheer bloody stupidity and incompetence doesn't. :O

That is to justify putting speed cameras here there and everywhere,it is just revenue collecting nothing else.

There are a couple of fixed speed cameras on the M1 here, they have been there for decades.Seems they are not earning their keep as everyone except the occasional tourist knows where they are.
So now they are going to spend millions putting in point to point speed cameras, like they have in other areas, for ,as they said “road safety”.They meant to say revenue collection
