Sugar cane to pave the way for biofuels again...
So , after every biofuel manufacturing facility in Australia has been basically forcefully closed down , a new light is dawning on the biofuel industry.
This time , after the 3rd sugar mill closure recently ....."no , youre not allowed to distill fuel to support your sugar mill"......the Aviation industry is showing maximum interest in generating a hybrid aviation turbine fuel based on cane....not necessarily sugar cane but close cousin.
Some is being deliberately grown for biomass(low sugar) and a new high sugar content cane is being grown for CSIRO approval hoping to challenge Brazils massive marketing.
Two things may happen here....the govt will see this as another golden goose to charge massive excise and not allow benefits to pass on to consumers vis airlines.....land developers will make a massive grab to flog off the ailing canefields for new estates before cane growers get a second chance at life.
