My number one grandson has just scored an ex WA gov't about year 2020 4 door Ranger ute 6 speed auto ute with 180K km. Appears to have been well looked after.
Q1 I think I recall being told that this is basically the same motor as found in the Transit, so plenty around?
Q2 Are there any past, present or future maintenance/replacement bits he should be looking out for? Yes car will be serviced by a reputable independent, but always handy to know these things.

Was that the engine that lost prime to the oil pump, if the oil was left to drain for too long?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
Yep, same engine as Transit, some Peugeot/Citroen vans and the Defender from 2012-2016, so yes, plenty around!
As per the thread in the defender 90/110/130 pinnacles section ("2.2 puma 130 engine failure" I think it's called) the 2.2 puma does have the unfortunate reputation of dud injectors over fuelling and burning holes in pistons! The 3.2 does too I think.
So at 180k km, I'd be checking to see if the injectors have been replaced. The correct part number for these is easy to get hold of(the defender one not so...).
I was gonna say ask Dazza about this, but he's beaten me to it!!
The only other thing that is potentially a problem is the auto. Gav (Homestar) I think has had some issues with work cars and this box, so probably worth a service, oil and filter change.
