    Tyres D4 2015

    Apologies if my search did not find any recent/relevant threads. I had Pirelli Scorpions on the previous D3. Need to replace the goodyears on my current D4 (came with vehicle). Do the Pirelli Scorpions AT 255x55 R19 still rate well or is there something else I should consider. Thanks in advance.

    Mine's a D3 but I've just put a new set of Pirellis on. I had extremely quiet road tyres on before, so I've noticed the additional road noise, but at 2 grand a set I'll put up with it until they need replacing again. Hopefully by that time my hearing will have deteriorated to the point I no longer notice.

    I'm surprised you find the Pirellis noisy. Are you sure your wheels are aligned correctly? I've had my Pirelli AT+ 255x55x19 for just under 50,000km now and I reckon they'll last for another year. Mind you, I have a second set of wheels (Kuhmo MT51 265x60x18) for serious stuff. I've rotated the Pirellis at each wheel swap or at around 10,000kms as appropriate. If the Pirellis were a Light Truck construction, I would happily standardise on them. They are quiet, give great traction off road and wear well.
    Before the Pirellis I had whatever came with the D4. I forget now but they were a road biased tyre. I have found the Pirellis to be just as quiet.

    My last set of tyres were Continental UC6 and were purchased with the two criteria being road noise and wet weather grip. Frankly anything would be noisy next to those. My old mans LC200 has Toyo on it and they are woeful for noise. He was pretty hard of hearing though so it didn't worry him.

    I changed out the original HP's for a set of Hankook Dynapro AT2's.
    I lost a little on fuel consumption, but still get 7l/100km on long drives.
    The road noise didn't go up at all (not that I noticed anyway).
    They have ~35k on them, and look good for around another 35k.
    They are OK in wet weather (one of my concerns after reading reviews), and are way better than the original HP's which would occasionally slip.
    Handled themselves well on Frazer Island, and wet clay riddled building sites.
    They don't look too aggressive, so fit in nicely to the stock D4 style.
    They didn't break the bank, so will be replacing like for like.
