Exhaust pipe for 1958 109" petrol

    Hi all

My 1958 109" (petrol) project car is missing an exhaust - one of several important parts - is there anyone in Australia (SE Qld ideal) who can make/supply one?

Attached is a photo of the chassis post galvinising and post priming - I'm currently painting the chassis (black) and hope to have a rolling chassis shortly.

    Thanks in advance.

I assume it has the 2.25l petrol engine? Assuming this, the next question is "does it have the original exhaust manifold, with the exhaust pipe sitting on top of the manifold, or the later type with it coming from below?"

The first variety is going to be hard to find, the second should be available from any of the Australia Landrover specialists. Note that the pipe is in two pieces, and the rear section is different for the station wagon.

    For a 2L engine? That appears to be a S1 109 chassis.

    Oops!

I should not answer these when I am half asleep!

    Sorry, I just saw the "1958" - my 1958 was a Series 2!

I don't think you will find a Series 1 exhaust off the shelf anywhere in Australia, but any competent exhaust system company should be able to make one, but absent a sample, and assuming that you want it to be a close reproduction of the original, they will need pictures, and if possible an opportunity to look at one to take measurements.

Find a local exhaust specialist, and seek advice from them, or perhaps a Series 1 owner can help.
