Defender steering box ratio mod

Some time ago I recall reading a post by someone who had replaced their defender steering box with a different one from another car that provided a better ratio, I.E. more angle for less steering wheel turn.

Can anyone remember reading this on AULRO?

On AULRO can't find. However, this article presents some info and opinions; inclines me to think I wouldn't do it. Just a moment... Other sites makes a very brief reference to a Bowler unit. someone on FB heavily modified land rovers not long ago described a patrol steering box conversion. think it was to a defer. Might be Anthony Para. Adrian Connor did a patrol steering box to RRC chassis. i have the drawings for that. Patrol sits outside the chassis so not a bolt in solution.

Thanks for the replies/tips, I'll look through and see what I can find.

My memory is pretty foggy, but I have a feeling the different steering box was not particularly difficult to fit, but as I said the memory is foggy.

people have done Astro and Tesla electric power steering conversions to. Not sure what is involved. if memory serves me correct, Grommit on here did it or might know the person who did it.
