    Mobile Phone mount ideas

I'm looking for a new, non windscreen mount for my phone, I currently run a RAM one mounted to the right of the steering wheel in the bottom corner of the screen..

I ordered this thinking it would also fit the outside vent, but it doesn't as the profile of the dash is different.

I don't like the phone in the centre sticking up above the dash, so wondered what solutions others have done?

That is the mount I use on the D3. Because the dash profile doesn’t match and so it won’t lock in place, I just tied it back to the dash vent.

If you have Quadlock (which I love and recommend - a bit pricey but good) then theres way to make/mount a very solid bracket using a common bunnings item. If you are interested let me know and i can show more details - its a coincidence that the holes in the bracket just line up with some existing mounting screws in the dash. Sits in front of the screen but you can still see the reversing camera, etc from the drivers seat. I use a bluetooth dongle to the stereo so its a bit like a poor-man's android auto.

I have opted for a glued quad lock mount. I have found this to be the most stable and the location isn’t bad. Double sided tape didn’t hold long.

The photos also show my iPad mount for off-road Hema maps which uses a Pivot case and attachment on a Kuda mount. (Discontinued Kuda courtesy of #Tombie).

I like the look of these, just found it on Amazon for around $50.

I particularly like the location and it sits high enough not to block the vent airflow.

Just a pity it is not intended for that actual position so won’t lock into place on its own, but sits securely around the vent and just needs to be tied back to the corner vent on the dash.

I have the suction mount quadlock, sitting in the little corner right of the speedo, above the air vent. Works well, though does 'melt off' once in a while - maybe twice a year. Just push back on and carry on.

How stable do you find it on rough tracks / roads?
