Back in the late '80s, a bloke i worked with ran a newsletter (The Organ) with his uni mates - they ran about 2,000 copies 4 times a year...
One of the 'interesting' columns was a type of form guide, they'd take bets on who was going to depart this earth, in a given year. The pope was always even money...what ever happened to black humour?
The subscribers could make suggestions, too...

I seem to recall (it was nearly 20 years ago) the lists included Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, the pope, phil the greek and many others of 'celebrity' status. But smart (arrssseee) as it was, I don't recall them ever pinging a winner...
