    Unbelieveable!

Pretty stormy tonight in surburbian melbourne, quite heavy rainfall. But hows this for the radar image:

The rain has cleverly managed to avoid most of the major water storages .

How are you from other states battling?

Yup, looks about right, I went down the peninsula today and left the rain behind. You could see it to the North.

Our dam up here is 99% full and the 'wet' starts in about a month or so.

We have been using water going over the spillway up until a few weeks ago.

But having said that it is not a big dam capacity wise for our ever expanding population.

Nationally we are the "lucky few"

News tonight - drought figures for NSW updated to the end of last month - only a little over 2% of the state not in drought and predictions of rises of the order of 30% in fresh food prices by Christmas. Latest forecast for the NSW wheat crop is down to about 20% of last year.
My own rainfall for the year to the end of October is the lowest recorded since I have lived here (12yrs). There has been less than 25mm in the last four months. At least the paddocks are getting so bare that the likely fires should be easy to stop.

We're in North-East Vic. Paddocks are totally bare soil, and last it week it rained for about half an hour... didnt even penetrate just washed heaps of soil down hill. And the worst of summer is to come.

Yes - looks like it should at the end of a long hot summer, but it is only mid-November.
