Exteranl Antenna

I came back this morning from a very quick Mel to Wagga road trip and used my Ipaq with TT6 and my bluetooth gps to navigate the route. As it was a hot day i was trying different locations to place the gps without it being in full sun, its fits perfectly in the overhead map pockets but was dropping out constantly due to being directly under the steel roof, i have an external antenna but would like to know if there is an easy way to route it into the cabin and then into one of the pockets ? Any idea's ?

I have my external antenna mounted on a cb gutter bracket above the drivers door. I tucked the cable along the door rubber then under the rubber in the top corner. Enters inside near the a pillar trim then runs down the inside of the trim to the centre console. Been like that for 4 years with no problems.

I have always wondered whether it would be a good thing to mount the external antenna INSIDE the air intake head of your snorkel (if you have one). Plastic so no interference, out of harms way and theiving hands, and you could route the cable through a hole in the engine bay (sealed properly so as not to defeat the purpose of having a snorkel) and then through the firewall into the dash.

I am keen to see if anybody has tried this or similar - but it sounds OK to me.

I have an external arial mounted on the snorkel ram and run the cable down the back of the snorkel to the door seals. Pull the door seals from the A pillar and run the cable underneath into the cabin. Push the door seals back into place and voila, you have a "no holes required" solution.

I had a similar idea of siliconing a small square of steel on top of the snorkle ram so i can sit the antenna on it when it use and tuck it away when not. It is magnetic .

Bluedog on here has one mounted inside their snorkel... haven't seen them in a while though to have another look but will get a couple pics when i do.

this is the go silastic a small bit of metal to the top of the snorkle and presto away you go

Mine is mounted on the top of the snorkel ram also, the wire follows the back down under the ram clamp and then up under the A-pillar trim when keeps the drips heading away from the car. It doesn't leak and so far has worked really well.
