    Interesting article on biofuel sustainability

For those of us interested in biofuels this has an interesting point of view.

This sort of analysis needs to be done - but the author's objectivity is suspect as soon as he refers to "biofuel fanatics". As he says there are a lot of assumptions to be made, and this immediately flags that he may have chosen assumptions to give the desired results.

Having said that, it is very likely that the ethanol from corn route is not really energy positive - and there are certainly environmental problems in Brazil. A further point of the article highlights the fact that any system involving subsidies is very likely to result in abuses. I don't think subsidies are the way to go!
