Wheels Bearings

Ok my drivers side wheel bearing is shagged, the wheel wobbles around everywhere when on jacks. Is this a simple job to replace or am i taking it to a steeler? The steelers are pretty good here so have no dramas but if i can do it myself i will. Also should i be replacing both sides as if one has gone then the other is not far away??

Wheel bearings are an easy fix if you have the rite spanner or hub socket as they are called this is un do the 52mm (think thats the size)retaing nuts they are set up as lock nuts with a hammer over locking plate in between the 2 nuts ...

Go back through the threads and serch for langys thread on oil lubed wheel bearings this will give you sum helpfull info im sure and you can change to oil lubed bearings and never have the buggers fail on you as long as the oils are checked as service time hope this helps

Is it a good idea to change to the oil lubed hubs? i thought they would be more prone to leeking? it is pretty warm up here so don't know if that would have any adverse effect on oil hubs either?

oil lubed hubs would be ok as long as you use somthing like ultra black silicone or the dana grip black silicone available from supercrap

Hi there, I have just had it done to my 110 and Maxi Drive Engineering recommend in their instructions that you use the drive flange seal from a County. I don't know what the part number is. Maybe call them for some advice and maybe think about using the drive flanges they can supply. They don't have rubber caps reducing the ingress of water and dirt and loss of oil. It has an outer nut which replaces the rubber cap, you take it off with a 52mm or wheel bearing socket, I think they are the same size?
