    Question QLD Rego

    G'day All

As some of you may be aware, I'm about to pack up camp and move to Townsville. I've got 4 vehicles (Camper, Motorbike, Landy and a 4 Cyl puss box).

Whats the registration process in QLD? Do I have to go and get them all inspected to transfer the rego on them?

How does the 3rd party insurance work? In good ol 2 headed Tassie the MAIB is charged as part of your rego.

    Any info would be good.

    Cheers

All your cars will need a Safety Certificate. This is about $55 from an approved inspection station. This is most mechanical workshops.

I'm not sure on trailers but I think if it has brakes then Queensland Transport will need to inspect it when you swap the rego but if no brakes then they don't need to see it. I think that was the case with my camper which has no brakes. It costs more to register a braked trailer.

Compulsory Third Party insurance is included in your rego renewal although you do get to choose which company gets your money.

EDIT: You say 4 vehicles so I assume your camper is not a trailer. If so then disregard the trailer bit.

    Thanx Utemad

The camper is a trailer. Its a Trek Bwana Camper with electric brakes.

    Cheers,

    CLose but not quite..

they dont need to inspect A trailer with a gvm of under 750kg if you have brakes on it its reccomended to have it inspected but is not compulsory.

If your trailer weighs over that and it doesnt have brakes, its illegal anyway.

What is your expected date of departure again Adrian? We MAY be heading to Rocky around May/ June for a few weeks( Possibly, but not sure yet...)...I was going to suggest travelling with us, but you'll fall too far behind on the hills....

Just kidding about the hills, we both know there aren't that many out there a LAndy can't climb.

I'll see you next week, all sounding a bit exciting now hey. Do you need a hand with storage/ packing/ organising? You know what they say about 'ask the busiest person'.

    Regards.
