Auto Inhibitor Switch D1

Hi Guys, does anyone know if the D1 inhibitior switch on the ZF is a fail open or fail closed switch. My D1 will start in any gear, reverse lights still work.
Just trying to work out if the switch has failed and causes it to start in any gear or someone has bodged the wiring.
Going for annual inspection and need to get it sorted.

I'm replying to my own posts again
Someone has bodged the wiring when the alarm went cactus
Starter relay was completely bypassed, so I ran some new wiring to include the relay and the inhibitor switch. Works as per normal now
