    Aerpro Harnesses

I just bought a JVC-DV4306 head unit for the Disco, and also bought the Aerpro harness part # APP8JVC to fit all late model JVC units. Well I pulled the old Philips radio out and installed the harness, perfect fit. I then went to install the new JVC unit and the connection doesn't fit (TO BIG).

So off I go back to Super Cheap, the salesman rings up Aerpro, yes the
APP8JVC fits all the latest JVC units execpt the DVD units. Any way I got a refund from Super Cheap for the harness (didnt even have to ask)

So I had to get the unit hard wired, ended up at Battery World in Wollongong the young bloke there does all the installs for Super Cheap down our way. Well this 4 min install I was going to do myself ended up being a 4 hour job for the tech. Cost me $100 which included 3 extra leads I had to buy to run the original sub in the back door and the AV lead for the DVD.

Thats $100 I didnt really want to spend but I would have been well out of my depth doing it myself. So if your going to up grade your CD player there's Aepro harnesses to cover most popular brand stereo units, but if your doing a DVD unit Aerpro don't do a harness for any of them.

    Is yours a Disco1?

I used to work at a place back in 1997/8 that worked on imported Disco1s. I think they had twin 8in subs in the back door. I've been meaning to pull my back door trim off to see if I have the brackets.

Do you have any info on this setup?

Hi there Utemad, yes it is a Disco 1 1995, I'm not sure what size the subs are but 8in sounds a bit big, probably twin 4in. the fella that did the job had a print out that he got faxed from VDO who now own Philips. I'll see him tomorrow and see if he will give me a copy otherwise contact VDO.

Thanks Chunk. We definately installed 8in as that was the smallest we sold.

The factory ones were the type that had the sub and amp in one unit.

I have seen Aussie models that had a speaker box arrangement on the back door though. Others have a door pocket in the same spot while others (like mine) have nothing.
