Mate, where are you going with this, are you buying Petrol, Gas, Diesel
If you have a V8 Petrol 96 Disco expect 20 L+ /100 K,
have a look at the Poll .

hi all,
was thinking about fuel consumption and my cars i have owned, and have realised i have always had good economy from the falcons, fairmonts i have owned. im guessing the reason for this is i drive from cheltenham to frankston for work each day which is always against the heavy traffic ie outbound from city on nepean hwy. i do about 450ks out of 60 litres of gas in my current AU.
So if this sounds like a strange question then just bear with me.
im just wanting to know your fuel consumption figures and whether you drive in the traffic or against it daily.
i hope you understand what im getting at LOL
it cos im getting a 96 disco very soon and am looking at the figures of peoples cars who are driven under the same conditions as me

With my 99 disco V8 and I drive a good mixture of both traffic and freeway and get around the 16lt/100km on unleaded and 20lt/100km on LPG.

1999 V8 4.6lt Discovery SII - Black&Beautiful -Gone .
I average 11.4 in the Defender. It's 40 mins of highway travel and 20 mins of slow traffic each way.
i have a disco TD5 and it gets 9-10l evey 100km around canberra![]()
I never drive "metro"
But I get around 11.5-12.5l/100km
My '00 Td5 Disco is averaging about 11.5-12ltr/100km. It's about 70% slow around town stop start with the rest runs into town on Western Ring Rd.
I'm trying to get more out of her but running out of ideas. Try differing acceleration techniques etc but struggling. Perhaps on next meet in Melbourne area, hope to get some hints etc...

Unless you are quoting a figure for very short trips in cold weather.
I noticed that if most of my trips in winter in a Series III were done without the engine even warming up properly and with all the transmission oils cold, that even with gentle driving and barely using the brakes, I could use up to 22 litres/100k. It was always much better in summer and even better still if I could go far enough to warm up the engine and the gearbox, transfer case and diff oils.
On a 16,000k trip to Broome, I averaged 16 litres/100k. Most longish trips were 18 litres/100k or better.
