    hi
does anyone know of a good generic scan tool available in Australia that will do discos and fords? i searched for scan tool on eBay but not sure if they will suit my needs
doesn't have to be expensive, but should be able to erase and read codes etc
When did discos become OBD II compliant??

Jaycar are selling an OBDII scan tool for $129. Should work on Fords but it didn't work on my '97 300Tdi Discovery. I wanted it to check and reset ABS fault codes. But it might work for OK for V8 EFI codes etc.

It powered-up OK from the OBDII port and went through all it's various protocols but couldn't seem to find a match with the ABS. I still have it in original packaging and it's too late now to ask for a refund so, if it's of use to you, make me an offer?

PS: Anyone know a way to reset ABS fault codes without forking out $many to someone with Testbook? PPS: The fault I'm talking about simply generated by disconnecting the brake lamp switch. So far it's cost me many times the cost of the new switch just to have the code reset.

Andrew what model Disco and what engine?

From what I've read most USA made units won't read the codes on diesels only on the V8, also they may only read the engine ECU and not look at any others.

From memory, for ABS on Disco1's, I think you need a seperate lead to plug into the diagnostic port on the ABS unit, the D2's are reasonably OBDII complient and so everything talks through the one port.

I've got 99 V8 disco and from reading all the threads on the forum [and there is a lot of them] and talking to various people at different specialist, I've resigned myslef to the fact that ABS/TC/decline light on the dash [the 3 amigo's] can only be reset with a testbook and not any other tool. I went to trivett 3 weeks ago and it cost me $77 for a reset which lasted 30mins.....they maintain it's because of the gas conversion???............if anybody knows otherwise please let me know....

Both Rovacom (all variants) and AutoLogic will do the same as Testbook
