    Bonnet/Hood lining

My bonnet/hood liner is sagging and pretty much cactus after the weekend of playing in the mud. My question is do I really need it? In my 98 disco.

    I've often wondered the same.
My 98' Discovery's bonnet insulation has started to perish at the front and once they start to deteriate they just get worse.
I wonder of the bonnet paint would get damaged/craze quicker if the insulation was gone?
My boss's Disco II alternator managed to chew up part of the matting and overheated as a result.

I was told that there is a Mercedes liner that is a straight fit apart from a small bit of trimming. When my truck next goes in for service I will make more inquirees.

My '85 120" had no bonnet lining until I fitted sound deadener to it. Didn't seem to affect the paint. Made a big difference to the noise.

    Cheers

I added a couple of those plastic fasteners (scrivets?) to the spots where mine was starting to sag 6+ years ago and it's still hanging in there (pun, unfortunately, intended!) I think it would be a lot noisier without it
