I reckon Red-Book severely under quotes second hand prices. Go to any dealer, and that is obvious. Look at all the private sales and they are all wanting more than Red Book prices.
That also goes for cars, as I just had to buy a replacement run-about and there was no way I could get the car I bought at the prices quoted for red book.

I reckon $21K is slightly optimistic, but if mileage is genuine and has been well serviced could be worth it.

Smile You can always make an offer

Is it a dealer or private sale?

Get it checked out by a Landrover mechanic who only works on Landrovers for a living to see if it has any Warts or improvements.

Considering the low K's it has done at approximately 11,000 per year it is more than likely been only a city car.

Check on the Internet for example carpoint for comparitive pricing and newspapers.

You can always make an offer for example $18,000 and go up a bit from there if it's any good but get it checked out first. My first Disco II was a 2000 TD5 and there is nothing wrong with them apart fron no CDL.

try waving $18500 under his nose and go from there you should be able to talk him down from $21K and if it hasn't been off road and low K's plus service history might be worth it

    100,000 kays less,
Thats 5 years of wear and tear YOU get to put on it,,
    cheap I reckon.

78000ks is not much...18 in cash looks very impressive when you open the brief case..but is coming up for 8 years old....irrespective of miles (or ks).....

I think if you can get it down a bit and the car checks out ok then buy it, even if you look hard there arent many cheaper that havent got high k's on them. Sure you might see a few for $15-$18 but they will be high k or V8's.
