Yes, its give us more time to things in the arvo before we lose the light,
I say if you want an extra hour get up early all you do in reality is work longer
I say bring it on Queensland. I think our last referendum was about '92. We're due again Anna.
You should add an indifferent thread or 50/50... that is me, I like it when I can go down the beach after work but I usually end up staying up really really late and that is not good for me![]()
I usually wake up when it gets light - it is now (with DST) around six instead of around five, which seeing I tend to go to bed around the same time by the clock means I am getting a bit more sleep. On the other hand there is now a tendency to miss the main evening news because you are still working outside at 7pm. Also on Sunday missed "The Einstein Factor" because I didn't look at my watch in time.
Main problem is that most people tend to work until the light gives out, which gets pretty late in summer, particularly towards the west of the time zone, and an hour later with DST, but their get-up time is set by the clock not the sun, so daylight saving adds an hour to the working day. Unlike most of the people round here I seem to be better able to stop work by the clock, so it doesn't worry me that much.
When I lived in the city I was in favour of daylight saving, now I'm not all that worried about it either way.

also, as John says, for those of us who don't have/need timepieces, it stuffs up our schedules for some time
i think it's a fantastic idea - coming from the u.k. i don't suppose there's any surprises there.
i can't understand all the fuss about it either it doesn't mean you get less sleep except for 1 night. it takes only a little while (2 days) to adjust and it means all through the summer you get an extra hour of light in the evening.
i heard someone on the news crumbling about cows still needing to eat and all - but just make them wait the extra hour, it won't kill them and doesn't affect the livestock in all the country's where it's been going on for years. you will all get the benefit when on your holiday so just for that 2 weeks or whatever amount of time, then it makes it worth all the strenuos extra hard work of changing the clock twice a year...
besides you've all got to get used to the idea that we're (us brit's) are moving here in buckloads, taking over again and bringing our good idea's and implimenting them![]()

How about "I've lived in countries which have it, but I don't give a toss either way...it's only an hour, who cares?"
That would be me....![]()
