It is a rip off - most of the funds go as fees straight to the owners of the Movember copyright - not a lot gets to the actual charities.
Collect your money by all means but give it stright to the charity not the Movember organisers.
My work is putting a team together for Movember.
It's a charity fundraiser with proceeds going to the prostate cancer group and beyond blue.
I've joined up at least in part because my Dad died from secondary cancer caused from prostate cancer. Also, a friend of a friend (21) is battling it now. Amazing.
Now I've got a coupe of days growth I've got to pick the least silly looking way of pulling this Mo thing off.![]()

I saw the report on tele the other day. The two guys who started the name are millionaires by the report.
They take something like 17% of the overall funds.
I am sceptical and don't support these sort of fundraisers anymore. I used to give $20 here and there only to receive more than this back in junk mail and telephone calls. Now I prefer to send money as directly as I can know how.
You mean we now have to request permission to "do" the next month?
Who let that idiot Public servant decision out?![]()
The shame is that it is a great cause - my brother is doing Movember but I have told him I will not give him any money but if he does the Moe thing I will give some money straight to the relevant prostrate cancer charity.

The sad thing is this is the same with most charrities these days. They use proffesional collection agencies that tke anything from 10% to 80% of what is collected to pay staff etc. What happened to collectors volunteering?? I used to do it all the time but got disiillusioned when you were collecting for nothing out of comppassion only to see most of it go to some tosser sitting in an office.
Can not do Movember anyway as have to be clean shaven at work for SCBA use.
