    Peter Andren Dead

Heard on the news at 11am that Peter Andren has died. For those not in NSW, he was the federal member for Calare, and although an independent had the largest margin of any NSW seat, increasing at each of the last three elections - obviously regarded as a good local member.

With the dismemberment of Calare in the last redistribution, he announced he was going to stand for the Senate in this election, but withdrew this when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few months ago.

Although he was not my local member (next electorate over), he often championed local causes that were relevant to me, so I did have a favourable opinion of him.

He was a real go getter - pity more politicians were not like him. Unfortunately getting pancreatic cancer is still a death sentence.

    He will be missed.

That's really sad, as I had a lot of respect for him, even though I don't even live in NSW. He was a pollie to be respected. Pancreatic cancer is just the worst way to go. This is very sad.

Even though I live in Sydney, I saw Peter Andren as a good knight. He will be sorely missed.
