TD5 Cam carrier installation - WHAT IS HYLOGRIP 2000???

Guys, I have had the head out of the Disco and after 4 months of waiting, finally picked up all the parts from customs today.

The Cam carrier is installed onto the head without the use of a gasket, but with the use of "HYLOGRIP 2000" according to the RAVE CD.

As far as I can figure out, this is some kind of 'liquid gasket' as it has to be applied using a roller.

However, my local car parts supplier has never heard of the stuff.

My question, is whether there anything else that I can use instead, or is it a dealer only gook? If it is, then i can't install the head tomorrow (Sunday )

Hope you can advise me in this seemingly 'sticky' matter!

    Thanks,

    Auke

    Hylomar is a brand name.

I used Hylomar gasket jointing compound to seal my intake manifold to my plenum as that is what it says to use in the Disco1 manual.
I bought that stuff from Super Cheap. It is a spray which I've never seen before.

    Anyway back to your story

Have a look at this PDF for all the Hylomar stuff.
    http://www.hylomar.com/pdfs/hylomar_..._adhesives.pdf

The PDF lists alternatives to Hylomar 2000 as Loctite 515 or 518 (or 514 USA).

It describes the use of Hylomar 2000 as
For sealing and gasketing of flanges on virtually any
shape of component. The product forms a slightly
flexible gasket and is particularly suitable for use on
intricate shaped components, narrow flanges and
    matting parts.
Having said all of that you said it was called Hylogrip 2000 not Hylomar 2000. I don't know if they are the same thing. Perhaps you can deduce that from the description of the Hylomar 2000.
