If you turn do you experience wind-up? Is the CDL actually engaged? Its easy to see if you have it as you just reach on top of the transfer case near the front outout and there is the actuator. (google up some pics there's heaps) I guess if there isn't one the plug may be hanging aroung somewhere unused and have got water in it causing a short? Maybe from the aircon condensation?
But definately check if your getting wind-up, characterised by a "sluggish" feeling like dragging brakes when turning, skipping tyres, or a loud expensive bang form the geartrain!!
